Guns and EBT cards?

A few days ago I read an article about Democrat Timothy Horrigan being upset about a Senate bill that would block the purchasing of guns, tobacco, alcohol, and lottery tickets with EBT cards.  

I will say this that I am for gun rights and what not, but I do not think that EBT cards should be used to purchase that.  These people who are receiving these benefits should use it for food and basic necessities.  The whole point of poor families receiving these benefits is so that they can survive and not starve to death.  

He says that it is violating their Second Amendment rights, but it is not. The reason it is not violating Second Amendment rights is that they can save up money to get the guns that they want.  Furthermore, yes we have the right to bear arms, but it does not mean that you should use the benefits to feed your children to purchase guns.  

In addition, you do not need guns, alcohol, lottery tickets and tobacco to survive therefore EBT cards should not be used.  Lastly, there are plenty of other weapon choices that are available like a knife. I kept a knife underneath my mattresses for a long time to protect myself just in case one of my moms ex-husbands returned to attempt to kill us.  

The basic argument is that why should my tax dollars be used to pay for someone else to buy weapons, alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets when they need to use their benefits to feed their children?

Why are there more Mass Shootings?

So today I heard there was another school shooting and it happened in Roswell, New Mexico. CNN presented a graph indicating the rise in mass shootings.  Then they asked, why has there been this increase?  

For one there is one thing we can rule out and that is guns is the major player in the contribution.  There were less regulations in the past and there was less mass shooting and to some degree less of a problem.  Second, I think the problem are the signs that are posted outside of buildings, "This is a gun free school," "No firearms permitted."  These building managers and schools are setting themselves to be targeted by idiots who enjoy taking the lives of others.  Third, this society believes that the world can become perfect. Well, I hate to burst your bumble, this world is never going to be perfect and you need to get over it.  I always believe that you can improve the world, but there is always going to be that one person or a group of people that want to harm others.  

Fifth, but not the last...responsibility.  We live in a society where people do not take responsibility for their actions.  They blame disorders despite knowing what is wrong and right.  They blame people, the blame the government, they blame their family, and they just blame everything else but themselves.  

The world is never going to be perfect, but one thing is that we can prevent these killings by improving community programs, better education, and promote responsibility for your own destiny and actions.

However, there is still going to be that one jerk that wants to harm everyone else.   

No Military Invasion of Syria

Everyone knows that Obama is now adding military option against Syria if the conflict does not resolve or President Assad does not step down.  

President Obama is not thinking about this and he is acting very similar to President Bush.  Many of you will think that this is not similar to President Bush invading Iraq, but it is. 

I do not think that we have the right to intervene into the Civil War of another nation.  Anyways, if we help these rebels (militarily( who is to say they will not turn on us once like many of Shiite Muslims in Iraq.  However, not all of them have turned on us, but definitely the radical side of them that has a similar outlook to the rulers of Iran.  President Obama and Democrats in the end did not support the invasion of Iraq and criticize Bush for the war.  However, they all think that it is okay to invade Syria.

The situation in Syria is worse then the one in Iraq in 2003.  The reasons why:

1. It is a Civil War between a group of people (rebels) and the government.  The rebels are tired of the government they view as tyrannical.  They say they want more rights, but who knows it could be like Egypt in the future where it actually gets more strict, but under Sunni rule.
2. Yes, the conflict may be causing mass amounts of refugees, but in what war has there been no refugees?  Yes, countries like Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, and other countries are having problems with refugees, but that is nothing new when it comes to war.  Those people are the ones that deserve to have food and aid.  On the other hand, the rebels are violent and once again we do not know if they will turn on us once they have won the war.
3. Russia and China have valuable reasons for other countries not to invade into the Syrian conflict and they could pose big problems to the U.S. if we decide to invade.  Furthermore, Russian troops (minimal) are already on ground in Syria, helping President Assad gain control over Syria again. If we invade to help the rebels we will be fighting a proxy war with the Russian military.  That will make relations with the Russians even worse.  I guess we could use Syria as a means of getting back in China for causing that conflict with Japan, but still not wise to invade.

Once again are dear President and Congress is going to refuse to listen to the American people.  He refused to listen on the Healthcare Bill and now he is not going to listen to the American people again.  We should stay out of it all together and not make the decision to join a side.  Right now no one knows who is the lesser of two evils. In the end, it looks like Obama wants to support rebels who eat soldiers hearts to send a message.  

Abortion

Abortion, it seems to become an issue in every election.  Well, I am sick of it and truly I am sick of it.  I personally do not support abortion, but what gives me the right to tell someone what to do with their body.  If complications occur during or after the abortion, then that is something that they will have to temporarily live with or permanently live with for the rest of their lives.  

I know that my Christian friends are going to hate me for saying this and claim that I am not a real Christian, but in reality it is not my right to tell them how they want to deal with their body.  Now if I get engaged in a debate about abortion I will let them know how I feel and I will let them explain to me how they feel about it.  However, I feel that the abortion argument is dead and we do have laws that would explain all the consequences and when it is not allowed to have an abortion and so forth.  

I get so sick of it being brought up and I figure this that God will be the judge.  Americans need to understand that we are going to disagree and we live in a nation where we are allowed to have different view points.  If you can't live with that you picked the wrong nation to live in.  America is divided and both sides need to start making concessions or we are going to be in a stalemate.

Americans and American government leaders wake up and realize that both sides need to compromise.  We live in a nation where one side of the spectrum is going to win or lose all.  Start making compromises or the nation will deteriorate.
